Hi. Welcome to everyone that takes the time to read this blog. It is intended to be about exactly what the name says................How come and why not?
This blog is for all Americans that are proud to be American. It is for all Americans that are proud of their different cultural heritages. It is for any American, be they Republican, Democrat, Independent, or somewhere in between, that still loves this country with all their heart and wishes we would, as a society, get back to plain, basic common sense.
Feel free to say what you want when you respond. I only ask that you do not use profanities.
You don't have to agree with me and I don't have to agree with you.
The point of this blog is that hopefully Americans will once again stand up and say, "I am an American. I am proud of that fact. And I believe in common sense."
I'll start......................
How come everybody wants to sue everybody else because they don't like what that person has to say? In this country we have freedom of speech. That means that any idiot in this country can say any idiotic thing that they please without fear of retribution of any kind from any governmental agency, and so can I. The only limitation on this would be, of course, when someone says something completely false and that falsehood causes substantial and/or irreparable damage.
Case in point: Dog the Bounty Hunter. Were the statements that he made to his son about his American African girlfriend racist? Absolutely. Should the station that aired Dog the Bounty Hunter's show pulled the show off the air? Absolutely not.
Duane Chapman (Dog) has the right to say and think any ignorant thing he wishes. While I abhor racism, the fact is that Mr. Chapman did not state those hated words at any time during his television show, nor did he state them to any of the people that he was arresting. He did his job and he did it in the correct manner. Therefore, the television station should not have taken his job away. The conversation that was aired so publicly was a private matter that was sold for money to the public. If the public had issue with those words, and I can most certainly understand why they would, then let the public decide whether or not to watch this mans television show.
Some people have gone so far as to state that there is no way Mr. Chapman could be a racist and a Christian at the same time? Really...........? So, other than Jesus Christ, who is the last 'perfect' Christian that any of us has met? Christians are not perfect, in fact most are far from perfect. They are merely human beings that have decided to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. That relationship does not demand perfection. Only our excellence, our personal best that we can give at that moment in our lives. If Mr. Chapman is truly a Christian, and seriously, none of us know the answer to that question, then obviously the area of racism is something he needs to work on.
At the end of the day, however, his actions were done in private, not on the job, and therefore the television station was wrong to pull the show. How many of us would be out of a job if our employers used all of the ignorant mistakes we all make in our private lives against us in our professional lives?
And please, before you send me a tremendous amount of comments that it is African American, not American African............no it was not a typo. If you were born in this country, you are an American first. Then you list your culture. An example of this would be my own children......they were born in this country and they are of Mexican heritage. Therefore, my children are American Mexican. Had they been born in Mexico and had American heritage, then they would be Mexican American.
So that's the first blog of How Come and Why Not? What do you, common sense Americans, have to say about it?
